DAY 1:  ERZURUM, SARIKAMIS, KARS

 

Transportation to Erzurum by plane from all airports of Turkey. Tour starts in Erzurum.

After meeting  with the Overland Travel Guide and driver after landing at the airport, we start our tour by getting on our vehicle.

Three Tombs: The most beautiful examples of classical Anatolian architecture. Uc Kumbetler, which is the main representatives of the common culture after Malazgirt.

Erzurum Ulu Mosque: The 800-year-old and 6000-person capacity mosque is still active. It is one of the most precious works that can be seen active today.

Double Minaret Madrasa: Symbol of Erzurum

Lunch, CAG KEBABI: Actually the most well-known dish of Eastern Anatolia. Cooking the meat, which was seasoned with black pepper and onion the day before, on charcoal, lying down. If you are a local, you order half a kilo or one kilo. But if you have little time or you want to taste a little, let my palate come to life, it is served by cutting it with a wooden handle and grilling.

We will move to Kars after lunch. Our unforgettable journey, following the magnificent geography of Eastern Anatolia, will continue on the Pasinler - Sarıkamıs route.

The historical artifacts and natural formations (Cappadocia-like basalt rocks and fairy chimney formations) that we will see on the way will attract your attention.

 Çobandede Bridge: The 700-year-old bridge built by the Ilkhanians was built at the junction of the Kargapazarı and Aras rivers and is one of the most important crossings of the Silk Road. The road after the bridge will take us to Kars and we will immediately get to know Kars with its historical aspects.

Sarıkamıs Ski Center: Our guests can use the chair lifts if they wish in the free time we will give at the ski center.

DAY 2: CILDIR LAKE / KARS CASTLE and SURROUNDINGS

 

Cıldır Lake: You can sled in Cıldır Lake, which is one of the most impressive fresh water lakes of our country and which is completely frozen in winter, and you can enjoy the white beauty.

Lunch: We will have our lunch with our menu consisting of fish caught from Çıldır Lake and called as yellow fish, black fish and silver fish. In our tour in Kars Center;

Kars Streets Walk:

Apostles Church - Kümbet Mosque: The church, which has a classical Orthodox architecture, is one of the first buildings converted into a mosque. It is still active today and has a lot of visitors.

Kars Castle: Kars Castle, which has been damaged and reconstructed many times in the historical process and still preserves its old strength today, will affect you very much.

Fethiye Mosque: It is one of the structures that has the characteristic of Russian Architecture, which is quite common in Kars. 19th century. It was built as a church by the Russians and turned into a mosque after the liberation of Kars.

DAY 3: ANI ANTIQUE CITY - KARS AIRPORT

 

After our breakfast, our journey of approximately 50 kilometers and an average of 45 minutes will take us to the deep valley opened by Arpaçay, which is also our border with Armenia. Ani Ancient City is right on this border and has a very important past.

Ani Ancient City: Ani started in history when the Armenian Bagratli Dynasty chose the place where the ruins are located as the new center and started to build the city at the end of the 900's. After the Byzantine rule and the conquest of the Seljuk Sultan Alpaslan in 1064, the Seljuk rule began. Georgian, Ottoman and Timur domination continued in the city in the following periods and life in the city ended with the abandonment of the Ottomans in the 155s. Today, it is one of the most important ancient sites where the foundations of Armenian Orthodox Architecture and Seljuk Architecture of the Principalities Period can be found and where the firsts were found.
